Bearings Products: Stacked-Plate Bearings

July 10, 2008
Hydrodynamic pressure bearings in the BBSPLN Series are 30% lighter and cost less than conventional ball bearings.

They consist of a stack of 0.4-mm-thick aluminum-silicon alloy plates housed in a stainless-steel case. The inner faces of the plates form the bearing’s bore to an accuracy of ±0.003 mm. Cutouts in the plates house a polyurea-thickened grease with antioxidant and anticorrosion additives.

The bearings handle speeds of up to 20,000 rpm in light-duty applications like compact fan motors and printer-paper feeders. Radial loads of up to 1 kg are tolerated. IDs range from 1 to 6 mm.
