Bench-Top ROHS Checker

Sept. 28, 2006
The bench-top Spectro Midex M detects limiting values of cadmium, mercury, lead, and chromium as well as the bromine content in flame-retardants PBB and PBDE, in accordance with the RoHS standard.

The bench-top Spectro Midex M detects limiting values of cadmium, mercury, lead, and chromium as well as the bromine content in flame-retardants PBB and PBDE, in accordance with the RoHS standard. The instrument does a nondestructive examination of assembled boards and printed-circuit boards. An automated sample table moves the sample along the X, Y, and Z axes for complete screening analysis of sample surfaces up to and larger than 20 20 cm. Electronics components can be analyzed with no sample preparation. Quantification of a measuring point is complete within 2 to 3 min. An internal video camera with 20 zoom allows the exact determination of the measuring position. The instrument uses 0.1, 0.35, 0.5, and 1.0-mm exchangeable collimators and analyzes 80 elements from aluminum to uranium. Other applications include analysis of jewelry and dental alloys as well as archeological and historical-scientific purposes.
