Carbon-Nanotube-Reinforced Polyimide

March 9, 2006
Aurum CNT, a new nanocomposite, consists of polyimide reinforced with multiwall carbon nanotubes (CNT).

The conductive CNTs reportedly disperse easily in the polymer. This improves flow properties of the composite and makes it easier to process. The fine dispersion of nanotubes also is said to improve the composite's dimensional stability. The electric conductivity can also be controlled so it has dust-reducing properties of conventional antistatics. Possible applications include semiconductor components and electrical/electronic parts in automobiles.
