Compression-Style Antibacklash Nuts

Aug. 24, 2006
C-Series (compression-style) antibacklash nuts eliminate the clearance between the threads of the nut and those of the leadscrew.

Backlash is eliminated by pushing the two nuts away from each other. A compression spring on the nut's front applies a force to the ring, which transfers the force to the rear nut, forcing the nuts apart. The design compensates for wear while eliminating lock-up issues. A self-lubricating polyacetal, used in conjunction with precision-rolled 303-stainless-steel screw material, provides smooth operation. This one-time lubrication nut also performs well when run dry in conjunction with Black Ice-coated screws.
