Electroluminescent Keypad Lighting

Aug. 18, 2005
Thin (0.1mm) electroluminescent DFLX lamps easily fit between metal dome arrays and keypads of mobile phones, remote controls, and other keypad devices.

The lamps provide uniform backlighting directly-under each key without affecting the tactile feel of actuation. The lamps feature a durable rubber composition that reportedly survives over a million keypad actuations without degrading. A small IC driver with low current powers the lamps, so little heat is generated.
