Fluid-Structure Interactions on Complex Designs

May 19, 2005
FEA developer Abaqus Inc. and CFD developer Fluent Inc. now have the capability to simulate fluid-structure interactions (FSI) on large and complex structures.

The FSI capability lets users solve complex multidisciplinary design problems involving coupled fluid flow and structural phenomena such as blood flow in the body or turbulence loading on a lowering aircraft landing gear. MpCCI software from Fraunhofer SCAI provides the coupling that lets the individual product work together. The new capability supports steady-state or transient analyses of thermal stress and or mechanical deformation effects, including full bidirectional scalable coupling and takes advantage of the latest parallel processing within each product.
