Infrared Switch

Jan. 25, 2007
The OPB725 Series long-distance reflective switch has a sensing distance of 24 in. or more, depending on the object.

The switch consists of an 850-nm infrared LED and Photologic sensor in an opaque housing to reduce the sensor's ambient light sensitivity. Light hitting an object reflects back to the switch housing, irradiating the Photologic sensor surface. This turns on the output npn transistor and provides a low output voltage. The switch has a power dissipation of 250 mW, maximum collector voltage of 30 V, collector dc current of 50 mA, and an operating temperature range of 0 to 50°C.
