Material Products: Armor Steel

Sept. 11, 2008
ATI 500-MIL is designed to meet U.S. military specification MIL0DTLDTL-46100E for high-hard armor steel.

The metal is flatter than other high-hard steel products and is said to have more consistent hardness. The material can be cut with minimal distortion or submitted to hot or cold forming. The steel’s formulation does not require quench and temper steps in treatment.

The alloy is intended to protect tactical vehicles, patrol cars, and above-deck shipboard structures. Perforated versions are available for airborne applications. Plates of the material are supplied in thicknesses from 0.5 to 2.5 cm and up to 243 763 cm.
