Medical-Grade Polycarbonates

Three biocompatible polycarbonate (PC) resins, Lexan HPX8R, HPX4, and HP1HF, reportedly have improved flow and ductility, better resist impact, and endure autoclave sterilization.

They come from a new copolymer formulation that improves flow, so they mold easier than conventional PCs. The formulation needs no additives, so there won't be additive migration or loss of surface additives from cleaning operations. The copolymers have good mold releases and can replace metals used in surgical instruments, personal drugdelivery devices, and monitoring equipment.
