Stratasys Inc., Eden Prairie, Minn., now provides four more build materials and one more support material for its Fortus 900mc 3D Production System for direct digital manufacturing (DDM). The materials include ULTEM 9085, PC-ABS, PC-ISO, and ABS-M30i. They provide smechanical properties such as strength, heat resistance, FST (flame, smoke, toxicity) compliance, medical-sterilization capability, and flexibility for prototyping and production.

ULTEM 9085 is a strong and lightweight thermoplastic widely used in aircraft interiors and other transportation applications. PC-ABS is a widely used industrial thermoplastic blend. PC-ISO is a tough polycarbonate that can be sterilized for medical device or surgical jig and fixture production or prototyping. ABS-M30i is up to 67% stronger than Stratasys’ previous ABS formulation. And, compared with its predecessor, the optional SR-30 soluble support material takes 69% less time to dissolve in an agitation tank and up to a 46% less time in an ultrasonic tank.
