A hollow-shaft mounting system, TorqLOC from SEW Eurodrive, Lyman, S.C. (www.seweurodrive.com), lets users mount SEW gear reducers on various size shafts. Interchangeable bushings ensure there is a gap between the mounting system and the gear reducer, so corrosion won't prevent easy removal. Torque created by the spinning shaft locks the shaft to the mounting piece, eliminating the need to cut and use keyways or turn the shaft to exacting tolerances. This should reduce the cost of new machinery and lower replacement costs as well. The mounting system's compact design lets gear reducers be mounted close to bearings or machine frames, minimizing the bending moment they place on the solid shaft.
