New Product: How to build your own robot

Robot Builders Cookbook, by Owen Bishop and published by Elsevier in 2007, tells first-time to advanced robot-builders how to make their own robots.

It includes full stepby- step instructions with close-up photos for five complete self-build robots. One includes a body that can be made from a plastic foodstorage box bought at a local supermarket. Its other components include Lego wheels, 6-Vdc moprod ucts literat ure tor, proximity light sensor, and PIC microcontroller. The finished unit is said to dash erratically around a room, flashing its LED and avoiding obstacles. Other projects show how to make a gantry robot and how to turn an existing toy into a robot. The book illustrates several different ways to program the robots.
