It emits a modulated white light which, when reflected back from an object, is electronically filtered to red, green, and blue components. A microprocessor and sensing optics provide Color-Only and Color-Plus-Intensity modes. Color-Plus-Intensity lets the sensor detect gray scales, which can be used to differentiate similar colors such as light blue from dark blue, for example. The sensor has three independent output channels, so it can detect up to three different user-defined colors with 335-msec response times. Two pushbuttons make manual adjustments of color channels, sensing mode, and tolerance levels. It has an ABS plastic housing rated IP67 and operates at 10 to 55°F.
