Small-Footprint Embedded Controllers

June 2, 2005
The EPPC-405 embedded controller is a low-cost, stand-alone 200-MHz Power PC that supports IEC61131-3 programming and Linux, RTLinux, QNC, vxWorks, and RTOS, including onboard software devices.

The 4.5 3.5 0.75-in. controller is a powerful tool for CAN, CANopen, and DeviceNet systems. An IBM PPC405GP, 32-bit processor operating at either 200 or 260 MHz gives performance up to 375 Mips. The EPPC-405 comes with an Ethernet interface for 10 and 100 Mbps net and is accessible as 100/100 BaseT via an RJ45 connector in the front panel. Standard are one or two electrically isolated CAN interfaces and controllers and one or two RS-232 serial interfaces. The controllers come with CoDeSys programming software, an IEC61131-3 programming tool, and Run Time System for Windows supporting 683xx and Power-PC-based processors.
