Solid-Gold Electroforms

Sept. 1, 2005
A new electroforming process creates solid-gold electroforms in an infinite number of shapes and forms.

The lightweight, thin-walled metal components can be as small as 0.020 in. with walls as thin as 0.0005 in. The electroforms require no significant tooling and can be produced to be hermetically leaktight and soldered or welded to custom end pieces. Uses include industrial, defense, and aerospace applications as well as invasive and implantable medical devices.
