Anticross-threading captive screws - Penn Engineering

Nov. 1, 2011
The captive fasteners have both Phillips drives and colored knurled heads.

PEM C.A.P.S. spring-loaded captive panel screws install permanently in aluminum or steel sheets as thin as 0.036 in. The screws install by pressing into prepared mounting holes. The shoulder on the retainer provides a positive stop. Anticross-threading technology reliably corrects off-angle thread mating and ensures proper alignment.

The hardware is available in multiple screw lengths with thread sizes from #4-40 through #10-32 and M3 through M5. It comes in self-clinching, flaring, and floating mounting styles. A Phillips drive enables tool access and a robust, knurled polycarbonate/acrylonitrile butadiene styrene knob allows for hand operation.

Knobs can be black, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, or metallic, and custom colors can be developed.
Detailed specifications and part drawings for these RoHS-compliant fasteners can be downloaded at http://www.pemnet.com.
