Ceramic substrates for light-duty vehicles

Oct. 25, 2007
Celcor-600/2-substrates, a next-generation ceramic for light-duty gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles, reportedly helps lower fuel consumption and boosts engine power by helping lower exhaust system back pressures.

The Celcor ceramic features 600 cells/in.2 and 2-mil-thick (0.002-in.) walls. This cell geometry results in a lightweight ceramic substrate that provides lower cold-start emissions. Corning substrates and filters are available in a wide variety of lengths, contours, and cell densities, enabling more design options for on-road and nonroad engine and vehicle manufacturers.
