Silicone flat cable

Oct. 25, 2007
Flexible siliconcoated flat cables prov ide h igh flexibility, low weight, long life, withstand temperatures from –45 to 260°C, and can be shaped to fit very tight spaces.

Common applications are in military jets for targeting pods, fuel-control systems, and missile gimbal and guidance systems.

A proprietary extrusion process lets multiple wires be placed in a flat cable, which controls wire spacing, insulation thickness, and overall cable shape. This one-piece silicone encapsulation won’t delaminate or degrade from vibration or exposure to oils or chemicals. Custom shaping of the cable permits routing without folding, kinking, or pinching, and eliminates signal failures caused by physical stress at the cable connector.

The cables come in 4 to 44-awg wire gauges and are available in continuous lengths (cable only), or as assemblies, complete with connectors.
