has been named the Corporate Outreach category winner of the 2014 Georgia STEM Education Awards given out by the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) and TAG Education Collaborative (TAG-Ed). The awards recognize schools, programs, and companies for exceptional efforts and achievements in supporting and promoting science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) Education in Georgia.
AutomationDirect, a distributor of industrial automation products, was recognized for its support of over 100 robotics teams in Forsyth County, GA., participation in the national FIRST robotics programs, participation in Forsyth Country’s Workforce Development program, giving equipment and supplies to educational institutions, supporting the Boy Scouts of America STEM merit badges, its summer intern program, and sponsoring the Georgia Manufacturing pilot program for high school students.
AutomationDirect began supporting robotics teams in Forsyth Country in 2005, with one team of 11 students. Since then, the program has grown to over 100 teams in all 35 schools serving over 42,000 students in the county’s schools. This makes Forsyth the first county in the U.S. to have a robotics program in every school, according to AutomationDirect.
