Bone phone

March 4, 2004
The TS41 handset is the first to let users hear calls inside their heads. Developed by Sanyo, it carries a "sonic speaker" which generates vibrations that move from the skull to the cochlea in the inner ear instead of relying on the traditional method of sound hitting the outer eardrum.

In noisy environments, users can plug an ear to keep outside noise from drowning out bone-conducted sounds. The phone retails for ¥7,800 yen, or $73 U.S. But, the way you look using the phone is priceless.
