Brushless servos keep inertia low

Brushless dc servomotors from Servo Magnetics, Canoga Park, Calif. (www.servomag.com), come in 22 and 36-mm frame sizes. Motor lengths can be customized to meet specific requirements in X-Y positioning tables, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, high-speed servomechanisms, flow-control valves, and other industrial-process equipment.

The motors feature low inertia for quick response. Typical operating speeds range from 2,000 to 8,000 rpm, with continuous stall torques from 2 to 20 oz-in. Motors can also be supplied with a 2,000 quad-count optical encoder as well as an optional Acme screw output.
