High-Torque Brushless Servo

May 6, 2004
The TG2300 Series NEMA-23 Frame brushless dc servomotor provides a peak torque of 574 oz-in. for quick acceleration and deceleration of heavy loads to 7,200 rpm.

Patented high-efficiency electromotive coil technology is responsible for the high peak torque, eliminating the need for gearbox reduction in many applications. This reduces backlash, cost, heat build-up, noise, and occupied space. Electromotive coils are actually multiple precision-machined copper sheets that replace the magnet wire and iron core of conventional motors. This design eliminates magnetic saturation, eddy currents, and hysteresis associated with the conventional iron core motors, improving controllability and power density. The ultralow-resistance coil also minimizes I2R losses, contributing to high efficiency. The precise wall of the stator coil allows for a narrow air gap between the rotor and stator assembly, enabling higher magnetic flux density in the magnetic circuit, boosting shaft power. Peak current is 70 A and continuous power density is 7.5 W/oz at 48 Vdc. Real-time error is less than 5 counts per 81,920 counts/rev (0.006%). The Series is thermally rated for operation to 100°C.
