EP42HT-2ND2MED black, two-component epoxy complies with the testing requirements of USP Class VI plastics. It resists temperatures up to 450°F; recurrent autoclaving; sterilization by radiation, steam, ethylene oxide, and chemical sterilants; and inorganic and organic acids, alkalis, organic solvents, and aromatic hydrocarbons. The epoxy has volume resistivity over 1012 ohm-cm, thermal expansion coefficient of 35 to 40 in/in x 10-6/°C, dielectric constant of 3.8, and tensile strength over 12 ksi at ambient temperatures.
This epoxy cures at room temperature in 48 to 72 hr or overnight by a 2 to 3-hr 100 to 125°C heat cure. It mixes at 100:40 by weight or 100:50 by volume to a paste consistency. Its working life is 30 to 45 min for a 100-gm batch. The epoxy comes in syringes, half pints, pints, quarts, gallons, and 5-gal containers.
