A partnership between the State of New York and natural gas provider Clean Energy will open eight compressed natural-gas (CNG) fueling stations.

A partnership between the State of New York and natural gas provider Clean Energy will open eight compressed natural-gas (CNG) fueling stations. The stations are part of an effort to promote use of clean-fueled vehicles. Current law lets state-operated stations sell only to state vehicles. New York's agreement with Clean Energy calls for the company to take over operations and management of seven existing CNG stations and to construct one new station. The eight stations-will be open 24 hr a day, seven days a week.

According to Clean Energy, natural gas is one of the best ways to reduce harmful air pollutants because it burns cleaner than gasoline and other alternative fuels, cutting tailpipe emissions by up to 95%.
