World Spends Over $100 Billion on Materialhandling Equipment

May 8, 2008
The global market for materialhandling equipment will reach $104 billion by 2010, according to a report by market researcher Global Industry Analysts Inc.

Western Europe and the U.S. dominate global production and exports, but Asian economies will play a significant role in making and using industrial machinery.

The increasing integration of material-handling equipment with procurement, manufacturing, and shipping operations will bolster demand for automation equipment and software. Growing demand for handling smaller packages from eretailing also drive growth.

Globalization has spawned new low-cost equipment manufacturers, particularly in Asia. Rising per capita incomes, more manufacturing, and increased investments in infrastructure all contribute to the demand for material-handling equipment. India, China, Russia, Mexico, and Turkey should continue to show the most growth.

The report, Material Handling Equipment: A Global Strategic Business Report, analyzes current (2001-2010) market data, historical (1991-2000) market data, and long term (2011-2015) projections.
