Front-end hot-swap power supplies

The HFE2500 Series of 2.5-kW front-end power supplies are for distributed-power, hot-pluggable and redundant power systems

The HFE2500 Series of 2.5-kW front-end power supplies are for distributed-power, hot-pluggable and redundant power systems. The supplies operate off ac inputs from 85 to 265 Vac, with active PFC; provide dc output of 12, 24 or 48 V; and operating efficiencies up to 93% are typical.

With the 19-in. rack-mount enclosure, up to four supplies can be paralleled with automatic load sharing, providing up to 9.5 kW of output power. An optional MCU in each supply allows for remote programming, monitoring, and status reporting via an isolated I2C and PMBus interface. An “energy-saving” feature of the I2C/PMBus interface is that rack-mounted HFE2500 supplies can be individually turned on/off as the total system load demand varies over time.

The HFE2500 supplies, which measure 1.61 ×4.21 × 12.8 in., can be used individually or up to four can be mounted in an 1U-high, 19-in. rack enclosure to form a paralleled-connected, load-sharing, hot-swap, N + M redundant 9.5-kW power system. Each supply has an internal O-ring MOSFET switch that will automatically disconnect it from the load and other paralleled supplies should a fault occur. Plus, alarm signals and LED indicators.

The dc outputs and current-share lines of each plugged-in supply are automatically connected in parallel with the others, providing scalable and expandable power, even in the field.
