Optical isolators

High-speed optical isolators solve interface problems between an incremental encoder signal and a PLC, servodrive, or other input devices. Designed for use with single-ended or differential line-driver encoder signals, the devices feature three complementary inputs rated for 4.5 to 7.5 Vdc and 12 to 26 Vdc and frequency response up to 1 MHz.

The FC-ISO-C module has three complementary open-collector outputs rated for 5 to 36 Vdc for use in singleended configurations. Optical isolation rated at 1,800 V separates the input signals from the outputs. The module converts a differential line-driver encoder signal to an open-collector single-ended signal, or changes encoder signal voltage to match receiving electronics input.

The FC-ISO-D module is for use with encoders and servodrive encoder-signal inputs and outputs and features three differential line-driver outputs rated for 5 Vdc, with 1,800-V optical isolation. It converts single-ended encoder signals to differential line-driver signals, or differential line-driver encoder signals to single-ended signals. The module can change encoder signal voltage to match receiving electronics input.

Both modules feature a slim-line plastic housing which includes an integral 35-mm DIN rail-mounting adapter, LED indicator, and removable screw-terminal blocks.
