A new line of Graphalloy (graphite/metal alloy) tin-based babbitt materials handle high-temperature bearing applications up to 350˚F (175˚C). The materials perform reliably as self-lubricating bearings in submerged and dry applications.
Babbitt is environmentally safe to machine and use, while eliminating the need for grease or oil, reducing contamination and maintenance.
The materials can replace plastics because they offer heat dissipation and will not melt or cold flow. In low-temperature applications (–400˚F/–205˚C), the bearings solve lubrication problems caused by the viscosity of grease and oil that often prevents proper operation of equipment.
