The insertion-type flowmeters use a fully temperature-compensated, thermal-flow sensing element made from precision, lithography-etched platinum RTDs embedded in patented equal-mass miniature diameter thermowells. The units come as a blind transmitter or with an LCD digital display, which can reside in the main transmitter or locate remotely up to 50 ft (15 m) away. Dual analog outputs, 4 to 20 mA and 0 to 10 Vdc, are field assignable as flow rate or temperature and a RS-232C I/O port. An optional 0 to 1-kHz pulse output totalizes flow. All configurations are field settable by laptop or PDA and a wireless IR link.
Sensing elements are made of stainless steel with Hast-C tips, and supporting electronics are housed in an all-aluminum, epoxy-coated enclosure rated for NEMA-4X (IP66). It withstands pressures to 500 psig and temperatures to 250°F. The process connection is either 1/2 or 3/4 in. MNPT with stainless-steel or Teflon ferrules.
Applications for ST50s include municipal and industrial wastewater aeration control systems, industrial and commercial blower and dryer in/out airflow controls, industrial manufacturing burner and furnace airflow control, HVAC duct/damper control, and aeration flow control in lakes, ponds, or aquaculture. ST50s run off 12 to 36 Vdc and 85 to 265 Vac.
