Researchers use NASA Glenn Research Center's 9 15-ft Low-Speed Wind Tunnel to analyze a mock-up of the Advanced Short Take-Off and Landing vehicle (AVSTOL) in winds up to 175 mph. Bouncing sheets of laser light off the fuselage let researchers see airflow at different levels. A fine water mist makes the lasers visible.
