Product Spotlight: Wide-Input dc/dc Converters

Nov. 22, 2008
UEI15 Series of wide-input dc/dc converters consist of eight models and are rated at 15 W.

The UEI15 Series of wide-input dc/dc converters are rated at 15 W and consist of eight models with regulated 3.3 to 15-V fixed-output voltages. The PCB-mountable units sit in 1 sq-in. of board area. The converter’s 24.4 × 27.9 × 9.1-mm package and pinout are coupled with either 9 to 36 Vdc or 18 to 75-Vdc inputs.

The unit’s 89% efficiency level comes from the use of synchronous-rectifier forward topology. Additional features include –40 to 85°C operating range (with derating), full magnetic and optical isolation of 2,000 Vdc and 2,250 Vdc with basic insulation; input undervoltage lockout, overtemperature shutdown, and output overvoltage and reverse conduction elimination. Output current limiting uses the “hiccup” auto-restart technique and the converters sustain short circuits indefinitely.
