The fastener consists of two slots machined into the hub, one radially and one angularly, to create a transverse wedge that remains attached to the hub's solid portion on one side. The cantilevered clamping section has a tapped hole to accept a cap screw that passes through a clearance hole in the hub's solid portion and into a threaded hole in the transverse wedge section. Repeatedly tightening and releasing the screw does not cause shaft marring or change the pulley's torque-transmission rating. Constructed of gold iridite aluminum alloy, the pulleys come in 12 to 72 grooves, bore sizes from 0.125 to 0.250 in., and ODs ranging from 0.286 to 1.813 in.
