USB DAQ Board

March 9, 2006
The new 1-MHz/16-bit DaqBoard/3000USB Series of data-acquisition boards are said to be the first USB-based versions of the popular, industry-leading DaqBoard data-acquisition boards.

They are also said to be the first such board to break the $800 price barrier. Each board in the Series provides analog inputs, waveform-capable analog outputs, 24 high-speed digital I/O, four counter inputs (quadrature encoder capable), and two timer outputs. The boards ship with software for data logging and viewing and support widely used programming environments including Visual Basic, Visual Basic, NET, Visual C++, Visual C#, DasyLab, LabView, and Matlab. The Series includes various synchronous, multifunction I/Os in a single device priced from $749 to $1,199. Features include a 1-MHz/16-bit a/d converter, up to 32 differential or 64 single-ended analog inputs, with seven programmable input ranges from ±100-mV to ±10-V full scale; four built-in thermocouple inputs, 1-MHz/16-bit analog outputs (up to four channels), 24 digital I/O, four counter inputs capable of measuring frequency, period, pulse width, or quadrature encoders up to 20 MHz; two timer outputs; synchronous I/O, where all analog inputs, analog outputs, digital I/O and counter/timer I/O can happen synchronously, resulting in precise time correlation between all I/O; low latency control outputs capable of responding to inputs in as fast as 2 sec; and a small, compact design (6 5.93 in.).
