Electronic Latch Reads Multiple Credential Formats

April 13, 2017
The "Swinghandle" latch features an RFID smart-card reader armed with a variety of credentials that enhances security and adaptability.

The H3-EM Electronic Locking Swinghandle from Southco, Concordville, Pa., features the same intelligent electronic locking and monitoring features as the standard H3-EM Series. But it also has a built-in multi-class RFID reader compatible with a variety of RFID credentials, along with both 125 kHz and 13.56 smart-card-based credentials.

The HID SE smart-card reader supports several readers so it can provide a higher level of security and simplify the process of transitioning to new security technologies used to manage access to keyless entry points at the equipment level.

The latch also sports LED indicators that quickly give technicians a visual status on equipment access, and credential-read status. The latch is attached using simple, single-hole panel preparation compatible with industry-standard enclosures for OEMs and field retrofits. When connected to an access control system, the latch lets users easily track and record access to the electronic locks, providing an audit trail that can demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements.
