Aero Nav Laboratories, an environmental testing lab located in College Point, N.Y., has developed an air-blast chamber. The chamber is used to determine the survivability of equipment when subjected to explosive pressure-pulse blasts.

The Lincoln Electric Co. opened a new Automation Service Center in Nashville. The 4,100-sq-ft center offers services such as equipment cleaning and repairs, connection and weld testing on a robot, burn-in cycle, as well as robot service, upgrading, programming and operation training services.

China’s Shanghai Welltech Automation Co. Ltd., a pressure-transmitter and magnetic-flowmeter supplier, has designed Ramtron International Corp.’s FM25L16 16-Kb serial F-RAM memory device into its 2000S safe-pressure transmitters. F-RAM replaces EEPROM in Welltech’s new explosionproof transmitters.

Endicott Interconnect Technologies’ Center for Advanced Microelectronics Manufacturing (CAMM) — a collaborative effort between the company and Binghamton and Cornell Universities, with funding from the U.S. Display Consortium — will pioneer microelectronics manufacturing research and development. Expected results are flexible, rugged, lightweight electronic components and products critical to nextgeneration applications in areas such as military and homeland security, lighting, energy and power generation, displays, and product identification and tracking.

HighTemp Furnaces Ltd., headquartered in Bangalore, India, is the newest technical licensee of Applied Process Inc. and its austempering technology.

Amsoil Inc. has signed agreements to be the official oil of both the 2008 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and 2009 Bike Week in Daytona Beach.

KSR International, a manufacturer of electronics modules, controls, and closures for the transportation industry, has selected the Genesis GC- 120Q placement platform from Universal Instruments to meet its new objective for in-house assembly speed and flexibility.

Barry-Wehmiller Companies Inc. has opened Barry- Wehmiller International Resources (BWIR) Engineering Services, an engineering and IT consulting division in Detroit.

Precision Engine Controls Corp. (PECC), a manufacturer of industrial and marine engine controls, has retired its firstgeneration VG Series of gas-fuel metering valves. The VG Series was designed in 1974.

The next-generation XVG valve replaces the VG1.5. The company will support repairs on fielded VG1.5 units through July 31, 2012.

Acquisitions
ITW Performance Polymers & Fluids has acquired Stokvis Tape Group B.V., a Netherlandsbased supplier of over 3,500 specialty self-adhesive tape and foam products.

Orders
Stratasys Inc. received an order for five of its largest additive fabrication systems — FDM 900mc units — to be used for direct-digital manufacturing. The customer is a Fortune 500 company that will produce plastic parts for end use. This order is a part of the completion of a $3.6 million R&D contract with the customer.

New Divisions/ Companies
NKK Switches, a manufacturer of electromechanical switching devices, has formally launched its Vastek division, which is focused on inhouse printing and assembly solutions for microelectronics, electromechanical, and mechanical solutions. The division has ISO 9001:2000 certification.

Totech Super Dry, a manufacturer of a wide range of ultralow-humidity storage cabinets, has a new sales and distribution organization in the Americas. The new company, Totech Universal Inc., replaces Totech America, which no longer sells authorized Totech products.

Happy Anniversary
Ebbco Inc. is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The company started business as a distributor of fluid filters and has grown to be a manufacturer of fluid-filtration systems and filter vessels primarily for the metalworking industries.

Personnel
Stephen A. Diehl is the new president and CEO of Surfware Inc., developer of Surfcam CAD/ CAM systems. Diehl will take over for his father, Alan Diehl, founder of Surfware.

Phil Sponsler was promoted from general manager to president of Orbitform Group. He has over 25 years experience in all aspects of engineering, manufacturing, and sales.
