This year's show will make the debut of Mitsubishi's 2008 Lancer compact sport sedan that features a "shark nosed," front-end inspired by jet fighter air intakes, a wedge-like profile and taut lines. The car is based on a new performance-engineered global platform, with a longer wheelbase and wider track, but is shorter in overall length than the previous model. All Lancer models are powered by a 2.0-L 152 hp aluminum DOHC MIVEC four-cylinder engine (143 hp PZEV in Calif.) teamed to a five-speed manual transmission. The sedan has an optional continuously variable transmission (CVT), that features a six-step Sportronic mode using magnesium steering wheel paddle shifters. It is available in three levels of trim and driving dynamics: DE, ES, and GTS.
