The Lumifa Series of LED light strips last at least 40,000 hr and only use a third the energy of fluorescent lights, says Idec Corp. in Sunnyvale, Calif. Dubbed the LF1A and LF1B, the light strips produce as much illumination as a 20-W fluorescent while generating less heat. The multichip LED strips have a voltage rating of 24 Vdc.

All lights reside in thin housings and come in different sizes with four color configurations of warm white, cool white, yellow, and red. Some are rated IP67 to handle wash downs, others provide protection from dust, as well as from limited water spray.
