Ragnar, designed Blue Workforce and Aalborg University, is a parallel robot designed to be flexible and adaptive for manufacturing purposes. Ragnar’s design fits into strict spaces, is lightweight, and operates at high speeds. The Ragnar can move in the x, y, and z coordinates and is customizable to handle different types of materials and automation operations.
Mico Robot Arm
Kinova displayed their Mico robot arm. The robot arm has six degrees of freedom, a maximum payload of 2.76 pounds, and is lightweight only weighing 11 pounds. The arm can fully extend 27.6 inches and is powered by 24V; the same energy as a light bulb. Each joint of the arm has multiple sensing capabilities including torque, position, current, temperature, and acceleration.
Aerocine provides high quality aerial imaging services with their custom unmanned aerial systems (UAS). They have approval from the Federal Aviation Administration to commercially fly drones for close-range imaging. Their UASs are designed in-house and offer different scale aircrafts. The UAS shown above has 4 arms with 8 rotors and customized gimbals are used with camera attachments for image stabilizations.
The Forager-W is an Omni-chassis, part of the autonomous robotic vehicles (ARV) family, built by c-Link Systems, INC. It contains a locomotion system and an internal power plant. The chassis itself is constructed of aluminum with all welded seams thus the finished chassis is IP64 rated. The electronic system is comprised of a multiprocessor core block, payload control system/interface, and an inertial navigation system. The electronic system resides in an IP68 water tight case. Several attachments can be made to the Forager including a push blade, dump hauler, work horse arm, and a sand bagging system.
Roli Rover, JD Humanoid, and Six Hexapod (from front to back) are part of the EZ-Robot toy line. A toy line designed for non-programmers and programmers alike, the EZ-Builder Robot Control software allows visual design interface to create and control robots. As users become more experienced, they can use Visual Studio .NET C# or Visual Basic for programming.
Universal Robots’ UR10 can automate processes and tasks that weigh up to 22 pounds and has a reach radius of 51 inches. The robot arm uses electrical resistance to stop when it comes into contact with an object providing safety and can operate without a protective cage. Programming can be done by placing the robot in the desired positions and marking waypoints to create a fully automated programming.
Baxter, by Rethink Robotics, is a fully interactive production robot. It can be manually trained by line workers to perform simple and repetitive tasks. It has a 360 degree sonar sensor and front camera for human presence detection, seven degrees of freedom per arm, interchangeable end-effectors for a variety of tasks, and behavior based intelligence operating system for ‘common sense’ operations.
The Corobot Spark by CoroWare Robotics Solutions is an education robot kit intended to teach young engineers about programming and path planning. The frame is designed out of balsa wood and can be reproduced using a laser printer. The computing hardware combines a power sipping Raspberry Pi B+ with a custom developed Pi HAT. The board includes 3x discrete PSoC chips from Cypress, 4x independent motor drivers circuits, an IMU, 3x Ultrasonic sensors, 1 IR sensor, 2200mAh LiPO battery and recharging circuitry, servo control for a pan tilt camera mount, Raspberry Pi Camera, USB WIFI dongle, and additional GPIO to add on what is already provided by the Raspberry PI.
Say hi to Marcel from LocoRobo! LocoRobo creates small robots to help children develop basic problem solving, programming, and hands-on skills. The board design uses an Atem ATmega32U4 microcontroller along with a Bluetooth transceiver for communications. The robot has ultrasonic sensors, an accelerometer, a gyroscope, and motor encoders. The control software is available for both iOS and Android devices and uses C, Python, Matlab, JS for high-level motion planning and multi-sensor fusion.
