On Nov. 9, Stratasys, a 3D printer manufacturer, and nTopology, an engineering software designer, announced a new collaboration meant to bring more automation to the additive manufacturing industry. The FDM Assembly Fixture Generator, the first of many collaboration ventures between the two companies, automates the design of jigs and fixtures, enabling engineers to turn a file into a ready-to-print fixture by dragging and dropping in the nTop Platform.
The collaboration incorporates Stratasys’ expertise on fast modeling, field-driven design and reusable workflows and nTopology’s nTop Platform engineering software into a series of accessible, customizable design-for-additive-manufacturing workflows. With this collaboration, Stratasys and nTopology are enabling the industry to achieve true design for additive manufacturing, paving the way for potential widespread manufacturing adoption.
“Our analysis shows manufacturing applications are currently seeing the most growth in our industry, from $2.8 billion in 2015 to $25 billion in 2025, so we focused our first collaboration on serving that segment,” said Pat Carey, senior VP of products and solutions at Stratasys, in a press release. “Companies want to move faster—to be able to adapt to change—and pure digital manufacturing gives them that agility."
The Fixture Generator is now available on the powerful nTop Platform through a free trial as part of the new collaboration. Stratasys and nTopology are also providing training videos and resources. More information on this collaboration is available here.
