ID&E (Rocks and) Rolls into Cleveland

Feb. 23, 2017
Taking place May 8-10, ID&E will be teeming with engineers, designers, system integrators, plant operations personnel, and high-level decision-makers.

Taking place May 8-10 at Cleveland’s Huntington Convention Center, the Industrial Design & Engineering Show (ID&E) will be teeming with engineers, designers, system integrators, plant operations personnel, and high-level decision-makers from across the country. The show will enable attendees to network with peers as they stroll the exhibit hall, checking out the live demonstrations of drones, robots, virtual reality, 3D printing and cybersecurity hacks.

Attendees can also attend educational and up-to-date sessions and workshops, as well as tour world-class engineering and manufacturing facilities in the local area. And if that wasn’t enough, they can also enjoy a (free) rockin’ night out with the other attendees, sponsors, and guest speakers at the world-famous Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

There will be three focused tracks of conferences covering IoT, Manufacturing Processes, and Assisted Engineering, in addition to a lively panel discussion on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

The IoT track will include a session given by Power Film on designing systems that wirelessly powers IoT sensors with photovoltaic devices. It comes with a hands-on workshop boasting specially made development kits. An expert form WiTricity will demonstrate and explain magnetic resonance and how it can be used to wireless charge a wide variety of devices.

The Manufacturing Practices track, featuring a Stratasys executive, will explore how 3D printing is changing manufacturing industries. In another session, an expert from 3Diligent will do a deep dive into 3D printing with metal and how the different approaches can be used for cost-effective prototyping.

3D printing is also the topic of another Assisted Engineering session. It will be led by Simulia and focus on how simulation can help companies adapt and profit from 3D printing. In another session in that track, Rockwell Automation will discuss collaborative robotics, explaining how they can make a difference on the plant floor.

The tours of local companies will give attendees a behind-the-scenes look at continuous improvement in action, best practices for high-tech workforces, and how some are using technology in innovative ways.

If that’s not enough to whet your appetite, the ID&E Show is co-located with Industry Week’s Manufacturing & Technology Conference and Expo. Admission to it is included in your ID&E ticket, and it will feature six tracks of sessions, including Continuous Improvement Fundamentals, Smart manufacturing, Leadership, Workforce, and Manufacturing Technology Strategies.
