At CES, NXP showcased an industrial drive reference platform using its i.MX RT1170 crossover MCU, which was controlling three motors on a claw machine. The MCU communicated with the drive platform via a TSN network, and real-time voltage, positioning and location can be viewed. In addition, the platform uploaded information to a cloud-based digital twin.
Also on display was NXP’s RT1180, which has a full integrated TSN switch and can provide deterministic communication, ensuring that important real-time communication gets priority through the Ethernet switch while still allowing users to do IIoT communication software upgrades.
