IT/OT Convergence at Hannover Messe

April 28, 2023
This demonstration shows how a brownfield system can be integrated into IT system.

A hot topic in manufacturing today is the convergence of information technology (IT) and operations technology (OT) to uncover actionable insights. By using data generated by OT from edge sensors and smart equipment, IT can store, retrieve, process, analyze and recommend action based on that data.

At Hannover Messe, Capgemini showcased this convergence in a brownfield example. Bosch Rexroth technology comprised the base of the machinery, sensors and controls. The data from the sensors were transferred through Capgemini OPC UA adapter, where it was also stored on the Nexeed cloud.

The demonstration also utilized the Siemens Brownfield Connector and transfered the data into the application to Siemens Opcenter, and by using the Mendix low-code platform, the data and machinery was integrated into the IT system.
