Vention Unveils MachineMotion AI: A Plug-and-Play Leap Toward Smarter Industrial Automation

May 14, 2025
Powered by an edge-ready NVIDIA GPU and designed for rapid deployment, Vention’s new AI-enabled motion controller redefines how manufacturers build, program and scale automation systems.

Vention has unveiled its latest innovation in industrial automation: MachineMotion AI, a powerful, AI-enabled motion controller designed to simplify and accelerate machine design and deployment. The announcement, made just hours before an upcoming exclusive interview with Vention executives, signals a significant shift in how manufacturers can approach automation—offering plug-and-play simplicity, built-in connectivity and GPU-powered intelligence in one compact device.

In a conversation with Machine Design, Vention CEO Etienne Lacroix and CMO Sarah Webster explained how MachineMotion AI fits into the company’s broader mission to make automation more accessible and efficient. At the heart of that mission is MachineBuilder 101, Vention’s cloud-based design platform and training program. The software allows users to design, simulate and price custom machines using an intuitive drag-and-drop interface, complete with digital twin functionality. MachineBuilder 101 also offers a certification path for users to validate their skills—a feature in high demand from Vention’s growing user base.

The centerpiece of the discussion was the new MachineMotion AI controller. Unlike traditional PLC-based systems that require custom enclosures, terminal blocks and extensive wiring, Vention’s new controller is cabinet-free and fully plug-and-play. It can deliver up to 3,000 watts of power and control up to 30 daisy-chained motors, LaCroix said, making it suitable for complex applications like intralogistics or assembly lines.

What sets the controller apart is its built-in NVIDIA Jetson GPU, which enables it to run AI workloads directly at the edge. According to Lacroix, this capability positions Machine Motion AI for a future where autonomous robotics play a central role in manufacturing. To move from prescriptive programming to robots that make decisions on the fly will require real compute power, and that is where GPUs come in.

The controller also supports Python, a widely used programming language in both software development and robotics, which opens the platform to a broader community of developers and system integrators.

Ease of integration was a core design goal, LaCroix said. The system eliminates many of the manual steps typically required to assemble automation equipment, such as wiring and configuring safety systems. Machine Motion AI includes pre-configured safety features and generates custom wiring diagrams for each order, reducing deployment time and cost.

Vention is showcasing MachineMotion AI in action at the Automate Show in Booth 4432, demonstrating its integration with vision systems, robotic arms and other components from its ecosystem.
