Design Insights: Data Sheet Search Available; Explore ‘The Difference Between…?”; IDEA! Awards Deadline is July 9

A review of the day’s top trending stories from Machine Design editors.

Data Sheet Search Available

A new feature of Machine Design’s recently refreshed home page is the searchable parts database offered in conjunction with our partner, Source ESB. The database offers easy access to thousands of component distributors, manufacturers and service providers. Think of it as a one-stop shopping center for components. Search by distributor name and get not just part information, but also price, availability and the ability to purchase the parts right from the database.

Explore “The Difference Between…?”

Machine Design’s popular ‘What’s The Difference Between…?” series takes a look at a wide variety of topics. Just type ‘What’s The Difference’ into Machine Design’s search engine, and you’ll get a lot of answers to that question.

The latest installment in the series looks at the difference between machined springs and traditional springs. In a white paper produced by MW Components, we look at the design and manufacturing differences between machined springs and wire-wound springs, including how they handle undesirable rotation and bending, the differences in their precision and expected reliability, the materials they are produced from and their ability to connect or interact with other parts of an assembly.
