A Lot of Business on the Line

April 13, 2022
For MD&M West participants attending their first post-pandemic trade show, the experience is proving a very fruitful one.

The first full day of MD&M West 2022 in Anaheim proved that medical devices professionals and the suppliers who deliver their solutions both want an opportunity to get business to line up with pre-pandemic levels.

Before anyone could to that, however, they had to get out of line first.

Perhaps the most robust sign of the cautious enthusiasm around this year’s show was the length of the lines for badges for attendees at MD&M West and the other shows (#DiscoverEngineerBuild) that make up the three-day event on the shores of Disneyland.

Even in the furthest corners of the show floor, there was enthusiasm among exhibitors and active booth participation. The event, which runs through Thursday, provides attendees with what is for many a first post-pandemic trade event experience.

The lines moved smoothly across the show atrium to get attendees and exhibitors (and the occasional wayward media type) their badges. After that exercise was complete, attendees got to experience some great innovations and some important presentations on the opening day.

People, Process and Product

One of the important presentations for all show attendees on Wed., April 13 will be a Workshop on Industry 5.0 - People, Process and Product Working Together, starting at 1:15 p.m. PST.

Industry 4.0 focuses on networking plants and equipment for greater process control, efficiency and profitability. Industry 5.0 places humans back into the equation to enhance the agility, sustainability and resiliency of production systems. The Wednesday session will look at the cross-functional roles for humans in Industry 5.0; how HMIs can incorporate robots, sensors, cobots and AI; and will look at case studies in various industry sectors.

More Innovations at MD&M West

The large crowds at MD&M West are soaking in the variety of new product offerings from the show vendors. Among the highlights:

Altech Corporation: The CBI Series of Uninterruptible Power Supplies are UL/CE/C-UL recognized, including UL60950. They are available in a wide range of voltage and power configurations. Power supply, battery-charger and controller are incorporated into the CBI Series in housings with dimensions from 45(w) × 100(d) × 100(h) cm. They can be DIN rail mounted. All CBI Series UPS systems provide outputs that are short circuit, overload and over voltage and reverse battery protected. They are designed to operate with virtually any type of battery, including lead type, gel and LI-ION batteries.
