Looking for a vintage car to add to your collection? Nick Whale Sports Cars Direct, Warwickshire, England, is offering KPU 386C, one of the original series of “works” Lotus Cortinas manufactured by the Ford Competition Dept. at its Boreham facility.

The car was supplied to the famous Alan Mann Racing team in 1965 to help in developing their racing program. Features of the car include an aluminum bonnet, boot and door panels, original short-ratio gearbox with alloy tail shaft and remote shift aluminum bell housing, dfferential, long-range twin fuel tanks, and 5.5-in.steel wheels. The car now has a fully rebuilt engine with evocative “BRM” cam covers.

The history file of the KPU 386C has photographs from Autosport magazine’s Nov. 18, 1966 edition which shows Lotus world champion Jim Clark testing the car at Bagshot before the 1966 RAC Rally.

The KPU 386C went on to become a Ford experimental car in 1967 and was used for developing an automatic Lotus Cortina, under Ted Davis, chief engineer at Borg Warner.

The car is being offered for £49,990. For more information, visit www.nickwhale.com.
