What is INWED? International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) is celebrated annually on June 23 to recognize the achievements of women in the engineering field and to promote the importance of diversity within the profession.
Launched in 2014 by the Women’s Engineering Society (WES) in the UK, INWED aims to raise awareness about the challenges faced by women in engineering and to encourage the next generation of female engineers. The day serves as a platform for individuals, organizations and educational institutions to host events, share stories and highlight the significance of someone's contributions to engineering, ultimately striving for a more inclusive and equitable industry.
By shining a light on inspiring female engineers, INWED fosters connections and motivates young women to pursue careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
To celebrate International Women in Engineering Day, Machine Design was able to speak with Ondine Beaufils, senior engineering manager at Safran Electronics & Defense, Avionics, LLC; Anoosheh Oskouian, the CEO of Ship & Shore Environmental, Inc.; and Nikki Gonzales, director of business development at Weintek USA and co-founder of the Automation Ladies podcast.
Check out the first of a three-part video series with Beaufils:
