For those of you who are interested in multiphysics, the Comsol Conference 2012 will shortly be taking place at the Boston Marriot Newton. I've attended in past years and usually find that the keynote presentations and the mini courses are instructive and interesting. Mini courses that have caught my eye so far include ac/dc magnetic modeling, which teaches attendees how to use the software to simulate Maxwell's equations in the static and low frequency regimes. And the description of a course on acoustics and vibrations says that acoustic pressure waves in fluids interact with surrounding structures and cause vibrations in solids and absorption in porous materials. Attendees will learn how to model these waves and their effects for such applications as muffler design, mobile devices, and loudspeakers. These are just a few examples ... stay tuned for more.
