Elastomers Prepare OEMs for Growth in the Medical-Device Industry
Dow Corning introduces its latest biomedical-grade liquid silicone rubber materials in its Silastic Q7-78XX series. Three elastomers in the series have been designed to help OEMs, fabricators, and designers take advantage of growth in the medical device industry, which expected to see a 6.1% increase annually over the next two years.
With Shore-A hardnesses of 40, 50, and 70, products in the Silastic line have a uniform molecular makeup for reproducible processing and performance across medical devices. Along with products in the Silastic Q7-78XX series, a new C6-7XX Liquid Silicone Rubber series and expanding range of pressure sensitive adhesives will be showcased in a hands-on display at Booth 2127 at the MD&M West show.
The C6-7XX liquid-silicone rubbers target short-term and non-implant applications, while the pressure-sensitive adhesives target a wide variety of applications including medical device attachments and wearable technology. All of these products will be featured at the hands-on elastomer display. In addition, visitors can learn about medical-device applications that require silicone at an “Inside Si” interactive kiosk.
