PMMI Golf Tournament Raises Over $40,000 for Education

Sept. 28, 2015
Annual tourney held before Pack Expo supports packaging industry's up-and-coming work force.
The 2015 PMMI Foundation Golf Tournament, held Sunday at the Bali Hai Golf Club in conjunction with PACK EXPO Las Vegas, raised more than $40,000, according to PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies. The PMMI Foundation supports processing and packaging education with programs including scholarships, support for student travel to PACK EXPO, and student contests such as The Amazing Packaging Race and the PACK Solutions Challenge.

“Through the PMMI Foundation, PMMI supports the processing and packaging industry’s developing workforce as well as the current labor pool by encouraging ongoing educational efforts,” said Maria Ferrante, vice president, Education & Workforce Development, PMMI. “We’re very grateful for the generosity of our sponsors and golfers in helping us advance these important initiatives.”

The PMMI Foundation Golf Tournament has been held the day prior to the opening of PACK EXPO Las Vegas since 1995, and once again, the tournament was a sellout, with all player slots filled and nearly 30 sponsors involved.

Each year, the PMMI Foundation distributes nearly $100,000 that funds initiatives to encourage students in their pursuit of careers in packaging and tuition reimbursement for PMMI member company employees’ continuing education.
